Alpe D'Huez

Alpe d'Huez has often been over looked and I am not really sure why. It is a stunning resort with high peaks and stunning views. From the summit of Pic blanc a whopping 3330 meters above sea level you can see Mont Blanc, Mont Cervin and Meije and when the skys are blue and the sun is high you can see a massive one fifth of France which is pretty spectacular. Alpe d'Huez is also known for its sunshine record on average 300 days of sun every year, so all in all you'll get great goggle marks and even better skiing.

Ski and Snowboard:

Alpe d'Huez is the every ability resort, with 240kms of pistes available all on one ski pass. Families of varying abilities will enjoy this resort as many of the runs link back to the same lifts so whether its a black or blue runs you prefer family rivalries can continue on the poma. The longest  black run in Europe, the Sarenne at 16kms is just waiting to be tackled by the more confident skier or border. Dont worry if that is not what youre about there is 174kms of red, blue and greens of which the majority are south facing meaning lots of sun For those that like putting there bodies on the line there are 2 snow parks one of which is for the aspiring freestylers and the other for the ones that would like to be on film. Ever thought there was not enough hours in your skiing day, well now there just might be with a flood lit slope which is open two nights a week.

Apres ski:

Skiing holidays don't have to be all ski ski ski. In Alpe d'Huez there are many activities to have a crack at like ice driving where you thrash around a track with an instructor spending most of the time glidding sideways around 90 degree turns, serious fun. There are however the more traditional activities such as indoor tennis and squash followed maybe with a splash about in one of the swimming pools. The food is what you would expect ranging from burgers and pizzas to traditional French fine dining, so something for everybody. There is a fantastic selection of bars; the most popular are the Pacific bar, O bar and Crowded House which hold local events and host live music. Iglu seems to be very popular with the late night crowd, playing banging dance music.
